THE ALTAR OF GOD’S THRONE

Beloved, the throne of God is the epicenter of divine power, mercy, justice, and grace. It is the sacred place where heaven intersects with earth, where divine will is executed, and where the prayers of the saints ascend as sweet incense. To understand the significance of the altar of God’s throne is to recognize the very heart of divine authority and the meeting point for heaven and earth.

In the Scriptures, God’s throne is depicted as the ultimate altar and seat of sovereignty:

Psalm 89:14
“Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.”

Revelation 4:2-3
“And immediately I was in the Spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne… and he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”

Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

The altar before God’s throne is the sacred place where sacrifices, prayers, and worship ascend to divine presence:

Revelation 8:3-4
“And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.”

This altar is the divine meeting point,
a place of sacrifice, worship, and divine communion.

The Significance of the Altar of God’s Throne

1. A Place of Divine Worship and Encounter

The altar is where heaven meets earth; it is the sacred ground where God’s glory descends and where saints encounter His presence:

Psalm 27:6
“And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.”

Revelation 5:8
“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.”

2. A Place of Sacrifice and Intercession

The altar is the divine platform where prayers are offered as sacrifices:

Romans 12:1
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Revelation 8:3-4(again) underscores the power of prayer and incense rising before God’s throne.

3. A Place of Divine Mercy and Grace

God’s throne is the seat of mercy; His altar is where sinners find forgiveness, and the broken find healing:

Hebrews 4:16
“Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Isaiah 55:7
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

4. A Place of Divine Justice and Righteousness

The throne of God is the seat of perfect justice:

Psalm 9:4
“For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.”

Revelation 20:11
“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.”

The Power of the Altar Before God’s Throne

The altar is not merely a physical structure but a spiritual reality, a divine portal that connects the natural with the supernatural. When believers pray with faith, their prayers ascend as incense, touching the heart of God:

Revelation 8:4
“And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.”

This signifies that every prayer, every worship, and every sacrifice made on earth is recorded and honored before God’s throne.

How to Approach the Altar of God’s Throne

1. With Reverence and Faith

Hebrews 12:28-29
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.”

2. With a Heart of Repentance and Holiness

Psalm 24:3-4
“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.”

3. With Expectation and Boldness

Hebrews 4:16
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace.”

4. With Worship and Praise

Psalm 100:4
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”

The Divine Call to Seek the Throne

The believer is called to constantly seek the throne of God’s grace, to worship, intercede, and stand in divine authority:

Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Revelation 3:20
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.”

The altar of God’s throne is the sacred ground where heaven and earth convene. It is the divine meeting point of mercy, justice, grace, and divine authority. As servants of God, we are called to approach this altar in faith, purity, and reverence, knowing that our prayers and worship are precious in His sight.
