MORE THAN CONQUERER

A supernatural truth underpins a believer’s confidence in a world full of conflicts, hardships, and obstacles: Because of the love of the One who loved us, we are more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37). This declaration is not merely a poetic phrase; it is a divine reality, an unshakable promise from God to His children.

To be more than a conqueror means not just winning a victory but possessing a victorious life that overcomes every obstacle, every adversary, and every adversity, not by our strength alone, but through the empowering grace and victory of Jesus Christ.

Many believers live beneath their divine inheritance, accepting defeat instead of walking in the authority and power Christ has given. But God’s Word declares that you are not just a conqueror; you are more than a conqueror. This is your divine identity, your eternal standing, and your victorious destiny.

The Scripture That Defines Our Victory

Romans 8:37 proclaims: “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.”
This verse is the heart of our victorious life. It reveals that:

Our victory is through Him, Christ Jesus.
Our victory is over all things, every challenge, every enemy, every circumstance.
Our victory is more than conquerors, it’s an overcoming that surpasses simple victory.

The Context of Romans 8

Romans 8 is a chapter rich with assurance. Paul speaks of the Spirit’s power, the hope of glory, and the victory believers have in Christ. Verses 31-39 affirm that nothing can separate us from God’s love and that we are victorious over death, life, angels, principalities, powers, and every conceivable force.

Romans 8:31-39 assures us that “if God be for us, who can be against us?” and “neither death, nor life… shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This is the foundation of being more than conquerors.

The Meaning of “More Than Conquerors”

Conqueror vs. More Than Conqueror

To understand the depth of this truth, we must differentiate between conquering and being more than a conqueror:

Conqueror: Someone who wins a battle or overcomes an enemy.
More Than Conqueror: Someone who not only wins but has victory over the victory itself; someone who lives in perpetual triumph, possessing authority and dominion over circumstances, sin, death, and the enemy.

Romans 8:37 emphasizes that our victory isn’t just a one-time event; it is an ongoing, triumphant life rooted in Christ’s finished work.

The Victory of Christ

Jesus’ death and resurrection established the ultimate victory. Colossians 2:15 declares, “Having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them.”
Christ’s victory on the cross is the foundation of our victory.

Ephesians 2:6 affirms: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
This positioning elevates us above every enemy and circumstance.

The Power of Identification in Christ

We Are in Christ

Our victory is rooted in our union with Christ. Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.”
Our victory is not based on our strength but on our identity in Him.

We Share His Victory

1 Corinthians 15:57 proclaims: “Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Victory is a gift, not something we earn, it is bestowed upon us through divine grace.

We Are More Than Overcomers

2 Corinthians 2:14 declares: “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.”
This ongoing triumph is a permanent reality for those in Christ.

Walking in the Reality of Being More Than a Conqueror

1. Renew Your Mind with the Word

Romans 12:2 urges us: “Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
To live as more than a conqueror, we must renew our thinking to align with our divine victory.

2. Speak Words of Faith

Proclaim your victory daily. Mark 11:23 teaches: “Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass.”
Faith-filled words activate divine power.

3. Live by Faith, Not by Sight

2 Corinthians 5:7 emphasizes: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Living in victory requires trusting God’s promises beyond what the natural eye perceives.

4. Stand Firm in God’s Promise

Ephesians 6:13 calls believers to stand in spiritual armor, resisting the enemy’s attacks.

5. Walk in Authority

Luke 10:19 affirms: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
You are authorized to exercise divine authority over all the works of darkness.

Overcoming the Enemy

The Enemy’s Strategies

The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). He uses doubt, fear, deception, and temptation to undermine your faith.

How to Overcome

Declare the Word: Use Scripture as your weapon (Ephesians 6:17).
Resist the Devil: James 4:7 instructs: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Stay in Prayer and Worship: These are vital for spiritual strength.
Maintain Your Faith: Remain steadfast, knowing that victory is already yours.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

Romans 8:11 declares: “If the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies.”
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live victoriously and walk in divine authority.

The Spirit of Power and Love

2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us: “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
This Spirit is the source of our strength as more than conquerors.

Living as More Than Conquerors

1. Embrace Your Identity

Know who you are in Christ, a victorious, reigning child of God.

2. Speak Victory Confessions

Declare what God’s Word says about you. Deuteronomy 28:13: “The Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail.”

3. Walk in Love and Forgiveness

Love is the greatest weapon against the enemy. 1 John 4:4: “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

4. Stay in Faith and Gratitude

Trust God’s plan, and thank Him daily for your victory.

5. Exercise Authority Over the Enemy

Use your spiritual weapons to command darkness to flee and circumstances to change.

Testimonials and Real-Life Victories

Countless believers testify how they overcame sickness, financial lack, addiction, and despair through faith in Christ. Their stories echo the truth that more than conquerors live victorious lives, because Christ has already secured the victory.

For example:

A person battling terminal illness declared healing based on Isaiah 53:5, and God healed them miraculously.
An individual in debt declared Philippians 4:19, and their financial breakthrough came unexpectedly.
A family prayed for reconciliation, trusting God’s promise of restoration, and their relationships were healed.

These testimonies demonstrate that victory is God’s gift to those who believe and stand in faith.

Beloved, you are more than a conqueror through Him that loved us. This is not just a promise; it is a divine reality, a spiritual truth that must be embraced and walked in daily.

The enemy may roar, circumstances may seem fierce, but your victory is assured in Christ. You have authority over every power of darkness. You are called to reign in life through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).

Remember:

Your victory is already secured by the blood of Jesus.
You are seated in heavenly places far above all principality and power.
Your identity is rooted in Christ’s triumph.
