In our world today, many are deceived by the lie that certain behaviors, attitudes, and lifestyles don’t matter in the eyes of God. The message of compromise, worldliness, and superficial Christianity has crept into the Church. They say, “Come as you are,” and “Do as you want,” implying that God’s grace covers all without repentance or holiness. But the Bible warns us sharply: “What you sow, that you will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
While some things may seem to “not matter” temporarily, the truth is — everything will matter on Judgment Day. Every deed, word, and thought will be brought into the light of God’s holy presence.
- The Deception of “It Doesn’t Matter”
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
Many believe that as long as they attend church, say a prayer, or make a profession of faith, their lifestyle doesn’t matter. This is a dangerous deception. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” (Jeremiah 17:9)
False teachers promote grace as a license to sin, claiming, “You are under grace; it doesn’t matter how you live.” But the Apostle Paul counters this: “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:1-2)
“It doesn’t matter”— but God says, “It will matter.”
- The Reality of Judgment Day
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
On that day, nothing will be hidden. Every secret, every thought, every action will stand before the holy God. “The Lord will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
“Judge yourselves, that you be not judged.” (1 Corinthians 11:31) — today is the time to prepare for that day.
- The Danger of Worldliness and Compromise
“Love not the world nor the things in the world.” (1 John 2:15)
Worldliness is subtle. It begins with small compromises: entertainment, fashion, attitudes, and values that align more with the world than with Christ. “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.” (James 4:4)
Many come to church but embrace worldly standards, fearing rejection more than God’s approval. They say, “It doesn’t matter,” when in fact, it does — because God is holy, and He calls us to holiness.
“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)
- Unholiness and the False Doctrine of “Come as You Are”
“God does not tolerate unholiness.”
“Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)
The message that you can come to God as you are and stay as you are is false. Yes, Jesus accepts the repentant sinner, but He also demands transformation. “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” (Mark 1:15)
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
“Come as you are” should mean coming humble, repentant, and willing to change. It does not mean continuing in sin or living unholy lives with the excuse, “It doesn’t matter.”
- The Cost of Unholiness
“Whoever disregards the law of God and lives in sin will face judgment.” (Romans 2:8-9)
The Bible warns that “the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
Living in unholiness is a serious matter. “God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness.” (Romans 1:18)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.” (Romans 6:23)
Living in sin is not a trivial matter; it is a matter of eternal consequence.
- The False Doctrine of Grace Without Holiness
Many preach a cheap grace that ignores holiness. But “God has not called us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
“Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:15)
Grace is meant to empower us to live holy lives, not to give us a license to sin.
- The Warning Against Lukewarm Christianity
“Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” (Revelation 3:16)
Jesus hates half-heartedness. “Be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)
A genuine Christian is passionate, committed, and fully surrendered — not indifferent or complacent.
- Living with the Awareness of Eternal Judgment
“Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.” (2 Peter 3:14)
We are living in the last days. The Lord’s return is near. “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.” (Matthew 26:41)
“Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Matthew 24:44)
- The Call to Repentance and Holiness
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17)
“Turn away from wickedness, and live.” (Ezekiel 18:21)
Holiness is not an option; it is the command of God for every believer.
- The Promise for the Faithful
“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” (Revelation 21:7)
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10)
Conclusion
It doesn’t matter what the world says; it doesn’t matter what false teachers preach; it doesn’t matter what your flesh desires. What matters is what God says, and what will be revealed on the Day of Judgment.
“He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still.” (Revelation 22:11) — but for those who are obedient, faithful, and holy, eternal life awaits.
Today is the day to choose holiness over compromise, truth over deception, and obedience over rebellion.
“Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1)
Remember, the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)
What you do in secret will be revealed openly. (Luke 8:17)
So, live today with eternity in view. Live as a person who will stand before the Lord and give an account.
“Be holy, for I am holy,” says the Lord.
